Today, the fashion world mourns the passing of one of its most significant and visionary members. Recognizable by his signature white ponytail and dark sunglasses, German designer Karl Lagerfeld defined the luxury fashion scene as the creative director of Chanel, Fendi, and his own eponymous brand. After starting his career under Pierre Balmain, Lagerfeld worked for Fendi to modernize their fun line. In the 1980s, he was hired by Chanel, a brand that was considered near its end since the death of designer, Coco Chanel, a decade prior. Lagerfeld reached international fame by revitalizing the dying brand, revamping its ready-to-wear line and integrating the now prominently ubiquitous “CC” logo into a style pattern.
